Ammonium Sulfamate CAS 7773-06-0

uses: The non-selective herbicide has special application value for controlling most woody plants. Control of annual weeds, most shrubs and woody plants. Perennial weeds were slightly resistant. When used, it is generally sprayed with aqueous solution, and can be sprayed on the stump with woody plants. The dosage is 25.2~50kg/hm2 for annual plants and 50~125kg/hm2 for perennial plants. In addition, it can also be used as a flame retardant for wood, paper, fabric and for printing and dyeing, tobacco, electroplating and so on.

Names and Identifiers

Ammonium sulfamate, a versatile chemical identified by the CAS number 7773-06-0,

This compound, also referred to by synonyms such as sulfamate or AMMONIUM AMIDOSULFATE,

with a molecular formula of H2NO3S and a molar mass of 96.0863.

Chemical Properties

It appears as colorless and odorless crystals .

It boasts a high solubility in water, formamide, and glycerol,

and a melting point ranging from 131 to 135°C.

Production Usage

In agriculture, ammonium sulfamate is valued for its efficacy in controlling a broad spectrum of woody plants, shrubs, and annual weeds, although perennial weeds show slight resistance.

The typical application involves spraying an aqueous solution onto the foliage or directly onto the stumps of woody plants, with dosages varying based on plant type.

Beyond its herbicidal use, ammonium sulfamate serves as a flame retardant for materials such as wood, paper, and fabric, and finds utility in industries like printing, dyeing, tobacco, and electroplating.

Safety

Its safety profile indicates a relatively low toxicity, with an oral LD50 of 3.9g/kg in rats and 3g/kg in quails. Moreover, it’s shown to be non-irritating to the skin and does not pose significant health risks upon prolonged exposure, as evidenced by a 105-day feeding trial in rats with no adverse effects.

Conclusion

This makes ammonium sulfamate a practical choice in various domains, balancing effectiveness with safety considerations.
